Keep up to date with all of Sporting Intentions special events here!

Sporting Intentions, with the backing of Cycling PEI is organizing a weekly road bike ride every Saturday morning at 9am from the store. This is a new format for the Island: We will be riding in groups of no more than 8 riders with a sweep group that rides at an easier pace and teaches proper Paceline technique (Riding in a group) and offers new riders a chance to get in to road riding! The sweep group will be led by a certified road coach and provide instruction and encouragement to riders looking for an opportunity to get into the sport in a comfortable setting with no risk of being left behind.
There will be two ride options: One 50km longer loop and one 30km shorter loop. The sweep group will be doing the 30km loop each week at a slower pace than the lead groups.
Requirements
- Road bikes only! No flat-bar bikes (MTB or hybrid) and no dedicated Time Trial/Triathlon bikes with shifters separate from brake levers please! This is for safety in riding in a group!
- Every rider will be required to be a member of Cycling PEI – This provides the entire group with insurance in case of accidents. Join online here. Or bring your $30 in cash and download your form to bring to the start of the ride. This will allow for us to get riding as close to 9am as possible. Click here to download the membership form.
- Each rider will be required to read and sign off in agreement to a Code of Conduct for these rides. This is to encourage safety and proper road riding etiquette. We will review these before each ride.
Bring your own road bike and helmet, and you should have an emergency kit containing a pump, a tube, tire levers, patches, and maybe even a multi-tool so that if you get a flat, you are self-sufficient. There will always be someone to help you with mechanicals along the way, but you should have your own supplies. Also make sure you have enough food and water for the ride.
For questions, contact the store staff at 902-892-4713, or email me (Geoff Murray) at peibikeguy@gmail.com.

No need to RSVP, just show up! We’ll make sure you get your forms filled out and that you’re organized into groups for the ride!
We’re very excited to be offering this! Hope you can join us!
